  • Health and Safety Policy

    Commitment

    Health and Safety, as an integral part of doing business, must be incorporated into every action; there is no activity so important or urgent that cannot be done in an appropriate and safe way.

    We strive towards an injury and illness-free work environment as a matter of responsibility and profitability; the quality of our endeavors and success of our work are strongly determined by the maintenance of high standards and continuing efforts to prevent injury and occupational disorders.

    All individuals within RFA share this responsibility for achieving a world-class level of Health and Safety, as well as in quality of work and productivity; everyone is to be concerned about themselves, fellow employees, public health and company property.

    Policy

    RFA aims to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for its employees, contractors and visitors, and therefore is committed to do all that is reasonably feasible to:

    • Meet or exceed applicable Health and Safety laws and regulations, including voluntary standards where appropriate
    • Implement procedures for the identification, prevention and minimization of hazards and risks
    • Provide all employees with appropriate information and training on Health and Safety practices
    • Consult and cooperate with employees
    • Maintain preventive practices and responsive procedures with regard to emergencies and accidental events
    • Promote an approach at all levels in the organization in order to ensure continuous improvement

    Regulatory Compliance: We are aware of and obey the laws and regulations that govern the global management of our business. We work to understand these laws and regulations as they apply to our jobs and for preventing, detecting, and reporting instances of non-compliance.

    Lobbying: We recognize our right and responsibility to lobby on behalf of issues that affect our company and business operations. We conduct our lobbying activities in compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing these activities.

    Regulatory Investigations, Inspections, and Inquiries: We are direct, honest, and truthful in our discussions with regulatory agency representatives and government officials. During investigations, inspections, and inquiries we work with appropriate advisors and cooperate by responding to appropriate requests for information.

    International Business Activities: We acknowledge and respect the diverse cultures, customs, and business practices we encounter in the international marketplace. We will comply with both the applicable laws and regulations of Switzerland that govern its operations and local laws wherever it does business.

    Bribery and Anti-Corruption: We prohibit corruption of government officials and the payments of bribes or kickbacks of any kind, whether in dealings with public officials or individuals in the private sector.

    Whistleblowing: In order to promote good governance and accountability , RFA International encourages its employees as well as members of the public to report illegality, irregularity, malpractice, unethical acts and behaviors, and inappropriate conduct or actions.

    Trade Controls: We are committed to maintaining compliance with all laws and regulations governing the import, use, export and re-export of our products, components, goods, services and technical data.

    Fair Competition and Antitrust: As a global business, we encounter laws and regulations designed to promote fair competition and encourage ethical and legal behavior among competitors. Antitrust laws and fair competition laws generally prohibit any activity that restrains free trade and limits competition. We conduct our business in compliance with these laws.

    Statement of Intent

    We seek to establish and sustain a positive environmental legacy for ourselves and for future generations. In doing so, the company is committed to minimizing its overall impact on the environment while encouraging and activating environmentally responsible behavior on the part of employees and business associates throughout the world.

    Policies

    We strive to achieve the best results reasonably feasible on the following:

    Water and Energy Conservation improve water and energy efficiencies in existing operations. Invest where appropriate in new technologies and systems that enhance water and energy conservation. Include water and energy management as an integral part of planning for future projects to reduce the consumption of water and energy.

    Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Reduction reduce GHG emissions by identifying the sources and implementing solutions, including source elimination, efficiency improvement, minimizing transportation and other fuels, and increasing the use of clean fuels. Examine the supply chain to achieve improvement.

    Waste Minimization reduces waste in our operations and business activities. Dispose of waste conscientiously and creatively by making "reduce/reuse/recycle" the standard operating procedure. Incorporate waste reduction into the design of products, programs and facilities; reduce waste through innovative product development, supply chain management, and end-of-life recycling.

    Ecosystem Conservation promote wildlife and habitat conservation through cooperative efforts with the scientific and academic communities and organizations committed to preserving the Earth's biodiversity and ecosystem functions. Integrate natural resource conservation in future planning, development and operations activities.

    Inspire action and engage employees, interested parties and business associates to make a positive impact on the environment.
